Course information
Welcome to Spanish class! In 6th grade Spanish class we will put emphasis on communicating in the target language, so there will be concentration in speaking and pronunciation. Also, we will practice reading and writing in the target language and we will develop an understanding of the Spanish-speaking world by learning about the culture and lifestyle. Throughout the school year students will be able to express their likes and dislikes about topics related to activities, sports, music, food and classes. Moreover, students will create their school schedule and compare it to those in Spanish speaking countries. Instruction will primarily be done in Spanish and classes will be held three days of a six-day cycle in Room 27.

Students did the debate, and then they did a class activity in which they had to write the correct adjective and then they had to interview 5 different classmates.

Today students reviewed with their group for 3 minutes, and then they had a listening assessment on classes, adjectives and activities. Then, from their class schedule, they picked 3 classes that they will be presenting on Monday and they wrote a paragraph about which period they have the class, who is their teacher and what they like/don't like to do in that class. They also described the class, por ejemplo: es aburrida, es divertida, etc.
Tarea: rehearse the 3 classes that you will be presenting on monday: please include in which period you have that class (Yo tengo la clase de español en la segunda hora), who is your teacher (Mi profesor(a) es Señora Patunas), what do you like or don't like to do in that class, and describe the class (La clase es es divertida, aburrida, interesante, fácil, dificil.. etc) You can write this information in flashcards or any sheet of paper.

Students will have to come up with questions and answers and create a script/dialogue and type it in the computer. Once they are done, they will rehearse and present it to the audience (their classmates) and the director (Señora Patunas). ¡Qué divertido! After that, they completed an activity in which they had to write what they like/love OR don't like to do during different days of the week.(See the attachment in case you were absent today). With Period 2 we finished the bottom part, that consists of students asking questions to 4 classmates: ¿Qué te gusta hacer el lunes? and then they had to write a sentence in the 3rd person form about what their classmate answered. For example: A Maria le gusta ir a la escuela el lunes. With Period 8 we will be finishing the speaking part next week.

Today we did a writing and speaking activity about what I like, I don't like and I love. Students had to write this information about themselves and then they had to interview three friends and record the information about them. Then volunteers shared with the class. Days (4,5,6) Today students shared their homework sentences with their group using smiley faces. They showed a smiley face to express the activities they like to do, and a sad face to express what they don't like to do.

(Days 1,2,3) Homework: Write 4 sentences with me gusta/no me gusta/ me encanta and the new vocabulary. Either the action verbs (bailar, caminar etc) or the vocabulary from the 4 categories (deportes, clases, música y comida).
Remember to use pero (but).
Por ejemplo: Me gusta descansar pero no me gusta cocinar.
Me encanta la comida italiana pero no me gusta la comida china.
Today we went over 6 action verbs and we brainstormed where, with who and when we can do these actions. This will be useful to know in order to create complete sentences with Me gusta/no me gusta or me encanta.

Today we learned some new vocabulary under three categories:
Deportes (Sports), Clases (classes), Música (Music), Comida (Food). Students will be able to use this vocabulary with Me gusta (I like), No me gusta (I don't like) and Me encanta (I love).
